A Look Back at 2014

On this last day of 2014 I thought I'd take a look back at my year and, wow, what a year it has been. When you're just muddling through a day, a week, a month, it all seems ordinary and bland. But now as I glance back through blog posts and sift through the "2014" photo file on my computer I see a whole lot of extraordinary moments that made up my year. A Look Back at 2014

I'll remember the first half of the year for friends and snow, lots of snow. In the first few days of 2014 Nick and I went away for a long weekend in the Poconos with our friends, the first "couples vacation" we'd ever been on. Then of course there were snow and snow days and escaping it in cozy Philly bars.

When spring finally sprung I was more than ready to get out and to get active. In April, I invested in the Tone It Up Nutrition Program after following the fabulous Karena and Katrina since February. It made me love my body and realize healthy living isn't so bad. Also it came just in time since it was getting just warm enough to go down the Shore!

A Look Back at 2014

June was probably the best month to date. Of course I always love June because it's my birthday month but Nick made it even more special by asking me to marry him. I won't get into the nitty gritty here but it was so amazing and so very Philadelphia. And then the school year was over and it was officially time for my favorite season: summer!

A Look Back at 2014

Summer always feeds my soul and makes my world right. The sand under my feet was a constant through July and August even while Nick and I picked a date, booked a venue, and picked our photographers for the wedding. We're still chugging right along (things are about to get real in 2015!). Then in August we finally got our behinds to Austin for an amazing week in the sweltering Texas sun. So about that being healthy stuff...yes, it kind of went out the window with The Salt Lick bbq, Gourdough's donuts, and all those delicious cocktails on Rainey Street. The highlight was obviously seeing the Panther Fieldhouse, although Tim Riggins was not waiting for me there after practice. I love summer vacations!

A Look Back at 2014

Where my summer was relaxing and rejuvenating, fall was anything but. I started my second year teaching third grade, started grad school again, and went all out celebrating fall at the area's best festivals. It was so busy but in a good way, in a way that forced me to grow and realize the power of good relationships and working smarter, not harder. Fall also welcomed the very first baby to my group of friends which made me feel officially old...and like I don't want a baby for quite awhile! So instead Nick and I explored some breweries because, well, beer. Fall was also a magical time for cultivating new friendships and spending even more time with family. Okay, I get that L.M. Montgomery quote now.

Philadelphia Engagement Photos

With the year winding down I must say I am so grateful for another year of love, friendship, and learning. There have been tough times, there have been fun times, and there have been times I'll remember for years to come. 2014 was everything I could have hoped for and nothing I ever thought it would be. Another thing I'm happy for is this blog because it is a constant reminder to me to grow, change, and experience the world each and every day. So here's to another great year and for another amazing one to come!
