Wearing: This Winter's Perfect Sweater Dress
Getting dressed in the winter has turned from "Oh yay for layers!" to "Leggings only, please." Enthusiasm for my winter closet is dwindling and my usual creativity is drying up. Every year around this time I go through the same thing and this year I found the cure: the perfect sweater dress.
The sweater dress is perfect for the winter in every way. It is comfortable. It is interesting with a few good accessories. It is good for a weekend of shopping or a weekday running around the office. Sweater dresses are my new true love. What I love about this one in particular is the back detail and the cowl neck. Those buttons are just the little twist I love to have on my clothing and the cowl neck is just enough drama for me.
A good sweater dress is easy to wear but can be harder to find. You're going to need to try the dress on and be brutally honest with yourself. Knitwear doesn't lie and if the dress doesn't fit quite right, you're going to look like you're wearing a potato sack instead of a piece of knit together heaven. Sweater dresses can be clingy so don't worry about what size you're picking up but pay attention to how you look in the mirror. If you have an hourglass shape, look for a sweater dress with a defined waist. If you're shorter, make sure that the sweater dress hits slightly above your knee to keep it from shrinking you down. If you're taller, you'll want to make sure that it's long enough to be a dress and not an actual sweater. Overwhelmed? Don't be! There is a good sweater dress out there for everyone and you're guaranteed to love it when you find the perfect one for your closet.
