Wearing: Buffalo Check Please
My flannel wearing days are numbered as the winter draws to a close. It's kind of bittersweet to pack away my coziest clothes but I cannot wait for the sunshine ahead. This buffalo check shirt is one of that I wait awhile to put away. Besides being lighter than the usual flannel and loose and boxy, I love the bold black and white check. Since the winter is winding down, you should head out to all the awesome sales and scoop up your own buffalo check shirt. The simple pattern is cozy but easy to mix in with everything from a pencil skirt to plain black pants.
The other upside to a great buffalo check shirt is that I feel laid back without feeling lazy. More and more it feels like it's acceptable to wear "leisure" clothes outside of the house (is that the polite word for sweatpants and workout clothes?). I can get behind some things, like wearing leggings as pants with a long top, but there will never be a time when I feel okay walking out the front door in sweatpants.
On this first weekend in March, Nick and I will be "road tripping" up to upstate New York to visit my grandma again. If you follow me on snapchat (kendallblossoms) you've probably seen some of my recent trips. We're helping her clean out my grandparent's house that they lived in together for forty years and, while it can be difficult at times, we've uncovered a lot of treasures. I found the most beautiful hand-painted mirrors from my great grandmother packed away at the bottom of a dusty moving box and I've poured over family albums. It's amazing to see my grandmother and grandfather dressed up for work parties in the 1960s and my mom and her brothers in their best 1970s attire. While it's not an exciting weekend of exploration, it'll be just the kind of calm and refreshing weekend I need for the start of March.
