Wearing: Out like a Lamb
There's that old expression that says March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. In elementary school, probably first grade, my teacher taught us this expression with an illustration of a March calendar. The top part had a terrifying lion coming out of some thunderclouds and the bottom of the calendar had a lamb sitting on grass in the sunshine. Needless to say, I still remember that to this day but I can't imagine how first grade teachers talk about March weather now. You can hardly tell what the weather is going to be like this spring from one moment to the next!
So what does out like a lamb have to do with today's outfit? Simply that layers are your friends when it comes to wacky spring weather and this cozy vest has become my very best friend. One of my favorite spring habits is Sunday brunch and it's usually pretty chilly while we're waiting outside for a table to open up. This draped, cozy fleece number is the perfect thing to keep me warm without weighing me down. It's easy to peel it off as temperatures climb later in the day. Did I mention how crazy cozy this vest is?!?
While I am in a love affair with this vest at the moment, there are so many others I "need" for my spring wardrobe. I have my eye on this sporty oatmeal one from Patagonia or this light utility vest or this psychedelic floral vest from Betsy Johnson.
I honestly could fill my closet with light sweaters and vests to get me through this lion and lamb spring weather. Here's hoping that April comes in like a lamb and stays that way!
