Wearing: Spring Colors are in the Air
What is a stylish lady to do when the weather won't cooperate with her outfit plans? This has been happening to me quite a bit this spring season. After an unseasonable warm winter, Mother Nature must have decided that we need to be punished here in the Northeast. So instead of pulling out those favorite spring tees and skirts, it's scrambling to pull on a sweater and tights. But enough is enough. A few weeks back I declared that it was spring and it was time to wear spring colors! Nick and I went in to Princeton one chilly spring morning for a coffee and museum date and this was the perfect outfit. Bright coloring and layers is really all you need to turn a drab spring season around.
Repeat after me: layers are your friends. And they don't have to be boring layers like my usual t-shirt and cardigan combo (sorry if you've been seeing the same thing on my snaps!). Layering this fun fringe polka dot sweater from Banana Republic under my trusty jean jacket added warmth and a little extra style.
Another thing I hope you repeat after me: color is your friend. I'll admit that I've been shying away from color more recently but I think that's just my winter wardrobe talking. Spring is here: time to be the sunshine! Colorful pants are my favorite way to add a little color with a lot of impact. J.Crew Factory has their Frankie style chino pants in a whole array of spring colors including MINT. Yes, I need those. With a pair of colored pants you can literally wear a plain white tee on the top and people will still think you've got it together.
The thing that I love about layering and tons of spring color is that you don't have to freeze your buns off. I won't get into the new trend of everything being so short, short, short but I am all about full coverage. Keep me toasty and you'll keep me happy. Roll out your heat lamps, keep the coffee coming, and give me all the layers until spring decides to actually kick it into gear! Though I heard it might be mid-sixties tomorrow in Philly so my wish is coming true!
