Five Easy Spring Outfits for Any Occasion
On this first Friday in May with the weather starting to (kinda) feel like spring, it's time to mix freshen up your wardrobe. Spring weather tends to drag us out of winter cocoons. I know I'm finally ready to get out in the world again and do something. To help you with your springtime plans, I've rounded up five of my best easy spring outfits for any occasion, each with its own theme.
Saturday at the Farmer's Market
original post: wearing: two seasons at once
First up: the Saturday morning farmer's market! One of my favorite parts of spring is all the markets and festivals that pop up on weekends from Philly to my NJ hometown. Browsing through the product at a farmer's market and actually buying some to cook up is an adulting right of passage. Because you usually have to go early if you want to get anything good, it's best to dress in layers. A light cotton eyelet top is great for later in the day and an open front cardigan will keep you warm until the day heats up. I'm in love with chunky heeled sandals, which are comfortable for walking everywhere but look just a bit fancy. After you've gathered up all your fresh produce, you can work this outfit into Saturday brunch.
A Springtime Event
original post: wearing: the bubbly bride
It seems that every spring there's at least one "fancy" event that I need to dress up for. Whether it's a Sunday family brunch or some sort of shower, baby or bridal, you'll need a nice dress to have in the rotation. The above look is one I wore for my own bridal shower last June but I've included three dress, two that are perfect to wear as a guest to a shower. Dresses are a great spring piece because they're easy. A dress is the perfect antidote to all those winter layers.
Saturday on the town
original post: wearing: bootie-licious
If you have beautiful sunny perfect spring days, I'm jealous. The weather in New Jersey has been a veritable roller coaster: one day 70s and sunny, the next rainy and in the 50s once again. That's why an open-back tunic sweater is the best of both worlds. It's soft and comfortable and the open-back gives it a flirtatious kick. Also the perfect spring shoe just happens to be the open-toed bootie. Since I'm not one for staying up late, this outfit is fun for a day on the town this spring, but equally perfect for a night out.
Bring on the color for work
original post: wearing: the polka-dotted professional
Winter work outfits are all about pants and tights and more pants. What's so refreshing for the spring is being able to show a little leg! Of course, you've got to be work appropriate which is why a bright bold pencil skirt is a spring go-to. The fun flutter sleeve is also just right for spring and you know a polka dot is right no matter what season (though it's extra fun for spring!).
original post: wearing: the short and long of it
My favorite part about spring? That it's almost summer! While I like to give every season it's time, the anticipation of summer is just too much bear this time of year. The beach is calling my name and those easy days of tees and denim shorts are in sight. As the weather starts to slowly warm up, you can mix in small pieces of the summer and the spring: a long sleeve top with shorts, jeans and a flowy tank top, a breezy cotton dress under a jean jacket. Before you know it, I'll be doing my round-up of summer outfits!
