Wearing: Work Wear on the Weekend
There are two things you should know, or might already know about me: I love clothes and I am practical. Clothes make me happy and I'm not afraid to admit it. There is a thrill every time I find that perfect piece or something so unique and exciting. Sometimes there are things that I just have to have. However, partially based on budget and partially based on my logical mind, I can't own every single thing I want. If I bought trendy item, I would be living in a closet instead of shopping for my first home. So how do I balance my love for style and being practical? By being careful with what comes into my closet. Nothing gets off the rack without having at least three different ways to wear it. If you've been a reader for awhile, you've noticed that in my style posts. It's great when something works multiple ways for the "office", a.k.a the classroom. It's wonderful when I have a go-to casual piece that works for #saturdayadventures and #sundayfunday. But the best thing of all? When you can find something that does duty seven days a week. This, my friends, is work wear working on the weekends and it is beautiful.
In case you couldn't tell by the wrinkles, I actually wear this skirt on the weekend. It is the perfect pop of bright pink and it's insanely comfortable (if not wrinkle free). When it's doing it's job as work wear I like to pair it with a button-down or light blouse. For the weekend it looks great paired with a plain tee but I love it with this whimsical embellished tank top. The hint of sparkle and pattern keeps this from being too "plain" or boring. And of course, you have to wear it with these gold flats. I'm not sure if I've stopped wearing them since I brought them home. They're like flip flops but prettier.
While I'll definitely wear something from the work week on the weekend, I'm trying harder and harder not to work on the weekends. Since starting in the working world, I've had a hard time just slowing down. I like being busy whether it's working on this blog or working on another project or working on my real work. Even though it's great to blend work and home in my closet, it isn't always the best thing everywhere else. That's why I'm trying to get more on a schedule this summer. It helps that I'm not working full time and I'm hoping to stick to it when the school year kicks up again.
First thing on the new schedule: weekend fun! I'm not sure what's on the agenda but it's definitely not work. See you over on snapchat or instagram!
