Sunday Edit: To the Maxi (Dress)
Anyone else tired of the heat and humidity? It's put me in a serious fashion funk lately. When it's hot like this there's no layering, no sleeves, nothing except just trying to keep cool. But then sharing my vintage maxi dress on Friday reminded me that a maxi dress is my summer secret weapon. It's a one-piece outfit, comes in all colors of the rainbow and every print possible, and is flow-y and breeze-y in all the right ways. That's why I'm investing in more maxi dresses as long as this heat wave holds.
Since a maxi dress is literally as easy and fashion ready as one without the two and three, all you have to do is pick your style. Yes, there's more than one kind of maxi dress. One that really caught my eye is the Grecian style chambray from BB Dakota. Maxi dresses can look big and tent-like but this chambray number has a tie to cinch and define your waist. Don't like how maxis hide your legs? The sexy side slit on this floral maxi shows just enough leg to add a hint of sexy. If you must, must, must add something to your maxi dress outfit, why not a long statement necklace? It'll add a little spice to this plain but colorful dress. Make the right style choice and go with the maxi dress.
