Babes on a budget, this post is for you. Style should be effortless and easy and NOT a lot of money. This is probably not a popular opinion for a fashion blogger to have but, you know what, you can look great without buying new all the time. What you do need to do is invest in a few key pieces that will carry from season to season. Year round style is finding the best basic pieces to anchor your wardrobe.

Start with the top: a great top for year round style can be layered. It doesn't have to be neutral; neutrals are just easier to mix and match. However, if you love color and have lots of color in your closet, go for bright and bold! Find a style that works for you whether it's crew neck or v-neck or scoop neck or somewhere in between. Stand out style doesn't have to be crazy and unique. A little detail like this knotted tee is different but easy to pair with anything. For best utility hands down, get a chambray shirt. Just trust me, they do the work style-wise.

Build it from the bottom up: bottoms should be comfortable and work for all different occasions. Midi skirts and the perfect skinny pants are staples in my year round style. For you it might be jeans or pencil skirts or bootcut pants. When you're buying basic bottoms, colors like navy, black, and gray work all year and pair with almost everything.

One and done style: dresses are the easiest year round style piece. It's a complete outfit for day or night. A simple swing dress does year round duty. How? Throw that striped swing dress on with sandals for simple summer style and then pair with tights and boots as it heads into fall. Florals work perfectly for summer to winter and back again.

Layer up: the last step for easy and fabulous year round style is layering pieces. Two no-fail styles are the utility jacket and the denim jacket. Utility jackets are dependable and effortless but you can always spice it up by going for a colorful one or with a bit of interest like this draped style. My personal favorite for all year is the denim jacket. I would be lost without it!

Basics are the perfect pieces to spice up your style. What are your favorite year round style staples?
