Five Perfect Pieces to Add to Your Fall Wardrobe
Every year I expect there to be this beautiful slow transition from summer to fall. The leaves change and the nights get slowly cooler. I dream of wearing long drapey cardigans over my denim cutoffs. The reality is, one day I'm sweating to death in a heatwave and the next morning wake up to frosty windows on my car. No complaints here! I've been waiting since mid-September for this weather. My daily hot teas are appropriate once more and my wardrobe looks so fresh and new. Actually my wardrobe isn't fresh and new; it only feels that way since it's been several month since I've worn most of it. With my mind and my money thinking about all new house things, there really won't be too many new pieces added to my fall wardrobe. But if I was going to do a little fall shopping, here's what I'd add:

I've been preaching flare over skinny since last fall and can't wait to mix them into my outfits again. If you haven't taken the fashion plunge, you should! There are so many different styles to choose from, some a step up from bootcut and others that are bordering on bell bottoms of the past. You might feel like you're flashing back to your middle school days but what you'll love about flare jeans of today is their flattering and comfortable high waist. Now while you really can't (at least you shouldn't) wear your tall boots with flare jeans, grab a pair of booties. It's a match made in style heaven.

At any given time there are at least five different booties on my wish list. Why? They're flattering on everyone, look great with all pants and skirts and tights, and there's a style for everyone. I'm on the hunt for a more Western style with a stacked heel but these low profile ones also caught my eye to pair with my tried-and-true skinnies. Another great thing about booties is they tend to be more affordable than your typical tall leather boots. I need to stop talking about them now before I add another pair to my closet!

To kick it up a notch, I'm seeking out any and all flowy tunics. Whether it's a high/low hemline or an asymmetric style, they're exactly what makes football Sundays so comfy (Go Eagles!). Again another universally flattering style that will pair with almost anything. Want to wear your tunic with more than leggings and your skinny jeans? Practice tucking and fluffing your tunic with flares and midi skirts!
(Faux) leather jacket
The perfect answer to the chilly days of fall is a leather jacket. If you're opposed to a leather jackets based on principle or budget, a faux leather jacket is just right in price and in style. Of course, the higher your pricepoint, more luxurious it will look. You can't go wrong with the classic structured moto style in black that goes with everything from your jeans to your lace dress. Feeling a little more adventurous? A loose draped neckline on your jacket looks modern and relaxed.
Chunky knit sweater

Don't want a huge pullover? A long knit cardigan is another way to layer for fall. While I love the baggy knit. this is not your style for skirts. But that's okay because you'll be totally comfortable and won't care.
