Tassels, Fringe, and the Festival Look

Apparently everyone on the internet is pumped for Coachella. There are festival-inspired looks, festival-ready playlists, and guides for festival fitness. I've been devouring all this content left and right. Flower crowns, silk pants, crop tops, lariat necklaces, the festival look is completely Instagram-worthy. It's the look of the modern bohemian. But as much as I have fallen in love with this aesthetic, it is not my look. There just isn't a place for an eyelet crop top in the closet of this girl. Yet I can't help but want to take a little piece of this look and make it my own. Cue tassels and fringe, my take on the festival look.

Tassels and fringe are always big parts of a festival look. I don't know what it is about them but they connect with that free spirit feeling and they're just fun. This outfit actually made me feel laid-back, which is so hard for me this time of year (hello deadlines!). Another element of the festival look is distressed anything so these Target boyfriend jeans hit the mark too. This super casual look is just perfect for these spring weekends. I love it for wearing to run errands at Target and Wegman's, because you know I live that glamorous life.

This past month I started to really dig into my personal style. Maybe it's getting older and maybe I'm getting a bit wiser but I'm realizing that not everything is meant for me. Like I said, the festival look is so much fun but, if I'm being honest with myself, it doesn't make sense for me. That's why I've started to pull elements from different looks I love and making them work. Rather than have that whole "OMG, I love that! I need that!" I've started to dig deep and find what works for me. My biggest piece of advice for anyone trying to figure out their personal style is pick one part of the look and make it your own. For me and the festival look that meant tassels and fringe, my two favorite things. So while I'm not ready to dance in the desert at Coachella, it's fun enough for spring time in New Jersey.
