What I would actually buy (and wear) from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
I hesitated to write a post and add to the madness that is "The Sale". But then I started to read some comments on Twitter. Comments along the lines that said basically, I don't need another sale post. So really, what in the world prompted me to write a Nordstrom Anniversary Sale post?!? I thought about why no one wants to read those sale posts. Every style blogger worth her affiliate dollars is pumping out mini marketing campaigns and it is overwhelming. How many perfect dresses can one girl own?!? Actually, I won't answer that one because I have a problem. The thing is, what makes this sale "annoying" to some readers is that, for the girl on a budget (my people!), you need be practical. That means that you don't want to be bombarded with the message of "BUY! BUY! BUY!"
What I don't have a problem with is taking advantage of a good sale to get things that you will WEAR, WEAR, WEAR. So if you are on the hunt for a good deal on quality items that will add a little something to your daily wardrobe, this is one Nordstrom Anniversary Sale post that (hopefully) you're going to want to read.
Starting from the top:
Lush raw edge side slit tee - a simple and easy tee with a long hem, perfect for tucking into jeans or slim pants. Every Lush top that I purchase from Nordstrom is simply effortless to style and gets tons of compliments.
BP. Milo loafer mule - the mule trend definitely here to stay into the fall so these loafers are just the thing to dip your toe into the trendy waters.
Halogen pleat midi skirt - oh my goodness, I think I might just have to call off my search for the perfect midi skirt. Not to be dramatic but a good midi skirt is hard to find, especially when you want it pleated. Seriously, this would work for work, pun totally intended.
Halogen flounce back shift dress - work dresses are hard to shop for if you're anywhere over 5'5". That's why I love this striped shift with the fun ruffled details. Throwing on a pair of tights is all you're going to need to make it fall ready.
Madewell checkmate fringe scarf - it's a sweltering 95 degrees in New Jersey today buuuut I can't stop, won't stop my love affair with blanket scarves. They make a girl look seriously chic with a few little twists. And the sale price is one of the best I've seen for a Madewell scarf.
Kenneth Cole New York double face wool blend long coat - I won't lie: this is the priciest item I picked out from the sale. But I also won't lie that this is probably up there as one of the prettiest items in the sale. A gorgeous camel coat, at the perfect length, that will certainly last for a long, long time, is not something to pass up. I cannot say enough about what a find this is. If you're thinking about purchasing a coat for the fall/winter, this is your sale find.
Hinge tie front pullover - again, if you're thinking about the fall, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has your back. My husband would argue that I don't need another sweater but I love the tie on this one. Simple and clean with the perfect added detail.
philosophy purity made smooth and cleanse trio - Okay, I am not a beauty maven but, since turning thirty, skincare is one of my new priorities. I recently picked up the purity gel mask from philosophy and this girl is in love with how soft and clean my skin feels. So I'm willing to splurge a little but not too much (#sale). Also, I'm looking forward to sharing some of my beauty buys on Instagram stories.
Sperry saltwater spray wedge waterproof rain boot - shopping for rain/snow/all weather boots is my least favorite task. You too? Cool because these Sperry rain boots are the perfect blend of style and utility and, thanks to the sale, are a great price right now.
Leith easy circle cardigan - I know, not another cardigan. But you guys, you gotta love that cardigan life in the fall. Or right now when the AC is turned up to the max. This cardi has such a great shape but there are tons in the Nordstrom sale, some more and some less expensive than this.
And then there was this one time that I was like, I need to stop shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. But I realized that there are even more cheap and stylish options so...
Articles of Society Sarah ankle skinny jeans - if you're like me and sneakily wear black skinny jeans to work, you are also going to want this pair. Also, post thirtieth birthday, I'm trying to get away from buying cheap Forever 21 black jeans which have that weird smell.
Caslon draped utility jacket - a girl can never have too many jackets...right?
Hue windowpane leggings - a girl also can never have too many leggings, especially when they're windowpane. This is definitely one of my favorites for fall (hello, flashback to this favorite dress). Think about the possibilities for work!
Drybar full size faves set - While my fingers are crossed that Drybar will one day open up a spot in my suburban town, I'm going to go ahead and snatch up some of their best ones in this sale. Now I only have to figure out how to style my hair...
Madewell lakeside peplum shirt - this top is Madewell, it's peplum, and it's the perfect shade of blue. Do I need to say more? This is literally an all-year round kind of investment.
Madewell crescent hoop earrings - Hoop earrings are the busy girl's bread and butter for effortless classic style. These are such an awesome twist and at an amazing price point. Give me at least five pairs please!
Cece ponte faux wrap pencil skirt - another work staple that's a great bargain with this sale. I love the faux wrap detail in the front that is just the right amount of interest in a wardrobe classic.
Trouvé bateau neck sweater - once again, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale can't be beat when it comes to sweaters. The bateau neckline is insanely flattering and I love how this one is a bit longer.
Caslon distressed stretch boyfriend jeans - you all know my obsession with boyfriend jeans. And these are under $50. Run, don't walk, because I will definitely beat you to these jeans.
Alright, ladies, that's it!
To me, there are two reasons to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. First, the time is right for you and you're looking to get your style on. Second, you want to spruce up your work wardrobe on the cheap. Either way, you can't deny that this is a pretty good sale. Now, just so you know, you can't access these deals right now unless you have a Nordstrom credit card. But the sale is open to the public on July 21st and there will still be plenty of deals (I'm speaking from plenty of experience). So, make a list, check it twice, and get some good deals!
