Making Me Happy Now: Boutique Hotels on Instagram
Since it's November and the year is almost over I thought, why not start a new series? But ladies, this series is a GOOD one. Since I decided to change things up with my little blog in September, I've been leaning into finding and collecting all the things that make me happy. Then I thought, if it makes me happy, maybe it will make you happy too.
Most of my happy things are things I become obsessed with. They're things that catch my eye and make me want to know more. Anybody else a naturally curious person? I probably drove my parents nuts asking questions and then begging for trips to the library to get more books. Lately one of the things I'm obsessed with and that's making me extra happy now is following boutique inns and hotels on Instagram.
I don't know what account got me started but somehow I stumbled into this gorgeous world. These super cozy little hotels and inns share squares filled with fluffy white beds, gorgeous fall foliage, and funky lobbies. It just gives me the greatest feeling of wanderlust!
The June Motel
Prince Edward County, Canada
This is the Instagram account that started it all. It's probably because the June Motel has the whole instagram thing down: millennial pink, green palm fronds, neon signs, and that vacation vibe. Besides loving it on Instagram, it's on my hotel bucket list. What? You mean to say you don't have a hotel bucket list too?
The Vintages Trailer Resort
Now here me out: this is not your ordinary trailer park. Visitors get to stay in beautifully restored vintage trailers with mid-century modern furniture and cozy fluffy beds. Plus it's located right in the middle of Oregon's wine country. Vintages and views, ladies.
Hotel Carmel is more recent addition to my Instagram feed but I love the simple, bright California vibes it brings. I mean, Carmel is gorgeous in its own right but Hotel Carmel takes it up a notch. I'm silently taking design notes so that I can have a little Cali right here in New Jersey.
The Surf Lodge
You're basically obligated to follow an Instagram account who's tagline is "an endless summer state of mind", right? Because that's part of the reason I followed the Surf Lodge. It's feed is all summer all the time with surfboards and basket chairs and sunsets over the Atlantic Ocean. It's closed now until the spring but I'm definitely adding this one to my hotel bucket list.
Stone Ridge, NY
I couldn't resist the pictures of this country manor-like resort in the Hudson Valley. Actually I'm becoming mildly obsessed with the Hudson Valley right now, but let's stay on track. It's photos are luxurious without being stuffy or intimidating. You just want to curl up under the eves with a good cocktail and a better book.
Foxfire Mountain House
Catskills Mountains, NY
Take me to the mountains, specifically the Catskills Mountains. Foxfire Mountain House is like the upscale version of the typical mountain house: roaring fires, pine trees, and beautiful spaces for drinking and laughing and relaxing.
Casa Joshua Tree
Joshua Tree, California
The desert seems magical and perfect on this Instagram account for a little rental house in Joshua Tree. Again, every photo inspires me to steal their designs. I also love how every corner of the house thoughtfully opens up to the desert outside.
The Red Rose Motel
Catskills Mountain, NY
This renovated historic Catskills motel was done with the greatest attention to detail. I love scrolling through their feed to see how they updated everything with clean, beautiful designs. But of course they left a deer head or two still there for authenticity. It is the mountains of New York after all.
86 Cannon: The Poinsette House
How could I not include a boutique with Southern charm on the list? Someone shared a snap from 86 Cannon and in one click I was hooked. It's all cool blues and warm grays and southern sunsets. Oh and there are dogs and blue bicycles. It's total Instagram eye candy.
Scribner's Catskill Lodge
Catskills Mountain, NY
Okay, maybe one of the things making me happy is little lodges in the Catskills Mountains. But how perfect are these spots?!? Scribner's consistently shares beautiful views of the mountains and puts them side-by-side snaps of the lodge's beautiful rooms. Okay, I swear I'm going to the mountains some time soon.
The Glen Wilde
Mountain Dale, NY
I'm in love with the sun-soaked and earthy photos on The Glen Wilde Instagram account. They're so perfect that they don't even look real. My favorite photos on their feed are of the a-framed loft, perfect for reading, yoga, and treetop views. It's the perfect Instagram feed to get lost in for a few hours.
Long Branch, NJ
Though technically not a hotel or inn, I couldn't resist sharing this little secret Airbnb that's right near the Jersey Shore. It's a historic home from the 1880's that the owners have carefully restored to a classic and cozy modern home-away-from-home. I love seeing the before-and-after transformation photos which are almost enough to make me want to tackle some of my own home improvement projects.
I'm kicking myself for not getting a chance to check out this local hotel. But luckily they share plenty on Instagram. The hotel is comprised of apartment-like rooms with meticulous industrial chic design. Each room is bright, airy, and Instagram-worthy. I love the hotel concept and love everything about their Instagram.
It makes me so happy to indulge in a little wanderlust by scrolling through these beautiful hotel, inn, and lodge Instagram accounts. Even though it's making me want to book a hotel trip ASAP! If you have any hotel and inn Instagram accounts that you're loving right now, send them my way. I'm probably going to be obsessed with these forever and I'm okay with it.
