Holiday Gift Guide: What's On My Christmas List
Not to toot my own horn or anything but I’m really good at buying gifts. Starting in October, I start writing up my list of people who I’m buying for then start brainstorming what I’m going to buy them. There’s a lot of research and a bit of digging to find just the right thing for everybody. I’m nothing if not a planner. However, there’s one question I always dread: “What do YOU want for Christmas?”
Despite searching for the perfect presents for everyone else, I never know what to tell people when they need gift ideas for me. Nick has resorted to searching my Pinterest and listening for random hints I drop.
But not this year! Since I’m prepping for baby and trying to save money, I’ve been doing a whole lot more window shopping (and a little less spending). So I figured I’d share what’s on my shopping list. The best part? Most of it’s on sale!
waffle leggings // Santa’s cookies candle // Home Body by Joanna Gaines // button down thermal // cable knit cardigan // cozy tie-front top // flannel shirt // henley sweatshirt // Stars Hollow mug // side slit striped tunic
Comfortable lounge pants - knowing that I have a lot of days spent at home this winter (hey, maternity leave!) cozy and comfy lounge pants are on the top of my list. But let’s be honest: even if I wasn’t going to spend the winter months mostly indoors, I would still have lounge wear at the top of my list. Besides the waffle leggings, I’m also in love with these ribbed joggers.
Holiday scented candles - I’ve yet to find a person on my list who doesn’t like a candle, including myself. I also like candles even more when I don’t have to buy them myself. My favorite brand is always Candelles and they never fail to have the best holiday collections.
Coffee table books - going book shopping is probably my favorite thing ever. You don’t even want to know how long my to-be-read list is. My obsession is coffee table books because they’re just so pretty! They’re also more than I want to spend but make a fabulous gift. Currently on my list are: Whiskey in a Teacup by Reese Witherspoon, Salt Fat Acid Heat by Samin Nosrat, and Grace: Thirty Years of Fashion at Vogue by Grace Coddington
Thermal shirts - to go along with my cozy pants, I’m going to need some cozy tops. Yup, fully embracing the cozy season. Of course, there’s the one every single girl seems to have from Urban Outfitters but I also love this one (which is on sale and much cheaper!).
Resin earrings - earrings are always on my gift list for the ladies in my life and I don’t want to be left out. What I’m loving right now is the resin earring trend. They’re versatile enough to wear every day or to dress up for a night out. These colorful flecked statement earrings are right up my alley and I also love this simpler pair.
Cardigans and cable knit sweaters - I live by the rule that you can never have too many sweaters. You can imagine how Nick feels about that one! But this is the perfect time to stock up on cozy cardigans and sweaters. While doing my window shopping, I stumbled across just the thing for my Christmas list: cable knit cardigans. There’s something granny-ish but modern about cable knit cardigans. Does that even make sense? I don’t know but this rose-colored Topshop cardigan has been on my radar since the NSale and this Madewell version is so classic.
Cozy over-sized sweatshirts - in the past I never would have wanted or given a sweatshirt as a gift because they just don’t seem special enough. But being cozy is life and there are so many great options available now. My favorite place to grab cozy sweatshirts that are okay for wearing out is Aerie. Their city sweatshirts, basically long cozy tunics, are essential for the cold winter months.
Velvet accessories - anybody really loving velvet right now? It sort of reminds me of all the holiday dresses of my childhood. Only this time I’m not going to be totally decked out but instead focusing on some choice accessories. I’m particularly obsessed with velvet shoes and would love these pink velvet booties as my one big holiday splurge. Also how cute are these velvet bow hair ties? The perfect stocking stuffer!
Kitschy gifts from my favorite shows - they say it’s the thought that counts so extra thoughtful gifts are personalized. For me that would probably anything that has to do with my favorite shows that I binge on Netflix. Who doesn’t need a Riverdale Vixens shirt or a Stars Hollow mug?
Nursing-friendly tops - it’s getting real: baby’s due date is just over nine weeks away. So a real need on my list is nursing-friendly tops. I’m just thankful that there are a lot of cute options like this pretty wrap-front top and this henley style.
