Simple Ways to Recharge After a Busy Week
Is it just me or does it feel like January lasted for at least 100 days? When the calendar finally turned to February yesterday, it was a relief. January is long and cold and now we're one step closer to summer. Who doesn't like that?
January was a long month but this week was especially long, too. We could blame it on the super blood blue moon, or the fact that it was report card week, or the fact that it's only been winter for about two months and I'm already over it. But really, sometimes you just have an off week. But today at 4:30pm, I am putting on my comfiest sweatshirt, pouring a glass of wine, and starting a new show on Netflix (any recommendations?). Besides Netflix and wine, there a couple of ways that help me recharge.
Online shop for something cute (and within a budget)
Honestly, I rarely pull the trigger and buy what's in my online cart. But there's something so satisfying about that "Add to Cart" button isn't there?
Pamper your tired skin with a face mask
Have you tuned into #FaceMaskFriday on my Instagram stories? Every Friday I try a new mask or revisit one I love. My skin is LOVING it because, well, winter does not like my skin.
Make something sweet
It's a well-known fact that making a mess can be good for the soul. Don't research that but I swear it's true. Even if you're not the biggest baker, grab some break and bake cookies. Just try not eat them all in one sitting because sugar rush.
Plan a super simple date night and dress it up
Even if you are so burnt out you can't imagine planning a single thing, sometimes you need to recharge by getting out of the house. That's when it comes in handy to have some back-up date night picks. We love going to a local brewery and sharing a pizza.
I also love digging into my closet and pulling out some clothes I don't get to wear to work. Just can't seem to make faux leather leggings and over-the-knee boots work in the life of a teacher. But for date night, it's my favorite combo.
Turn off social media, create a pillow fort, and hibernate until Monday morning
As much as doing things can recharge your batteries, sometimes it pays off to just hide out for a little while. Get off social media, grab some books, get cozy and just turn off the world for a little bit.
