Making Me Happy Now: Travel Instagram Accounts That Inspire Wanderlust
There's something about March that automatically makes me want to hop on a plane and fly anywhere. It could be a beach, it could be a city, it could be an old farmhouse out in the country. Literally anywhere. Between the cold and the sort-of snow thing we've got going on here, I just want to get away.
Unfortunately my school schedule keeps my travel plans pretty light when it's not the summer. I can't say I haven't thought about just quitting and hitting the road BUT I would miss my classroom too much. Instead I'm going to wait it out and live vicariously through some pretty awesome Instagram accounts. So what's making me happy now is travel Instagram accounts that are totally inspiring my wanderlust.
Lately I've been in a New York state of mind and I want to blame it mostly on Davina's super gorgeous Instagram feed. She captures little corners and delicious breakfasts of NYC in the most gorgeous ways. Plus right now she's posting tons of snaps from her vacation to Paris so to say I'm obsessed is an understatement. If you're looking for beautiful restaurants and hidden corners of NYC (and around the world), follow @heydavina.
Fun Instagram handle, even more fun pictures. Dominika is London-based so yea, I'm jealous, but she also travels to the most colorful and beautiful destinations around the world. I regularly visit her feed to find the brightest pops of color all over the world. An awesome bonus is she is super adorable and has fabulous travel style.
I discovered Andrea's Instagram when she was reposted by Lokal Hotel in Philly. Another world traveler, her feed is such a beautiful mix of places from Paris to New York to beaches in Spain. Expect to be inspired to find a cozy cafe or a quiet corner.
Julia's Instagram feed is chock full of photos of Amsterdam and its infamous bicycles. I cannot get over the canals and the town houses and those Dutch colors! But she also travels all over Europe and her pictures are full of soft, muted colors. I love all the beautiful decorated storefronts and gorgeous homes she captures.
Though it's a regram account based on the hashtag prettycities, I love the way it takes me around the world to literally all of the pretty cities. I basically bookmark every single photo because wanderlust is real and I love the gritty charm of cities which is what The Pretty Cities is all about. Also, there's @prettycitylondon which is another favorite and makes me want to go back to London every single day!
Husband and wife Selena and Jacob moved from the U.S. to Europe and now travel to the most amazing places. They're basically life and travel goals. I love how their feed goes from city to country to mountains to beaches. I'm about to convince Nick that we need to take this show on the road...
Another regramming account that has everything, Wall Traveled shares photos of people capturing bright colorful murals from around the world. Since I am constantly on the search for art in the wild, Wall Traveled is essential.
Jessica Bride is the Art and Culture Editor for @London and moved from New Orleans to London. Basically she makes me want to live in both places. I could totally see myself wandering through London's mews or strolling past New Orleans petite and colorful cottages.
Kendall's Instagram feed is clean and colorful snaps from all over the U.S. and Europe. Every photo that pops up from her feed has the most stunning colors and beautiful views. She is also the best at capturing photos of fall that basically convince me I need to move to New England or some other place with bright fall foliage.
Leah is a transplant to London and Portugal and she has such an eye for the details in a city. She made me fall in love with colorful Portugal, it's beautiful tiles, laundry lines full of clothes, and hilly streets of pastel colors. I traveled to Lisbon many years ago and didn't love it but Leah is definitely making me reconsider.
I never thought of DC as a beautiful city until I stumbled upon dccitygirl's feed. She manages to find beauty in the most mundane parts of our nation's capital. From the quiet streets of brick rowhomes to the touristy Washington mall, she does DC good.
Though it shares travel tips, I visit Travel Insiders for photos of gorgeous destinations from around the world. They capture literally everywhere and now everywhere is on my travel bucket list.
The duo of Elaine and Taylor show off such perfect colorful destinations. From interior to stunning views, I want to live in their Instagram feed. Plus their trips are so unique like staying in old campers to swinging in hammocks in front of A-frame cottages. Take me on an adventure with you ladies!
I'm not a backpacker but the Wanderlove account could honestly convince me. Instead of looking grimy and rough, they make backpacking around the world look fun, colorful, and full of community. Also, if you want stunning views of beaches and mountains and colorful coastal towns, this is where it's at.
